The main design challenge was to meet the needs of a family with three boys and a father who all clear six and a half feet. Wylie finessed the proportions of the freeboard, trunk cabin, and pilot house to balance visual aesthetics with the substantial head room constraint.

The laminates of E-glass biax fabrics, vinylester resin, and 1” balsa core are developments of tried and true Santa Cruz construction. The masthead rig came from the Sled class and is aluminum with rod rigging by Alan Blunt. The Sail inventory is small but efficient, consisting of two jibs, a heavy air staysail, main, and cruising spinnaker. The keel is a solid lead casting by WYLIECAT. The fin is an NACA 63-A foil and the large bulb is a development of our racing designs.
